Pirtek recognises its corporate and social responsibilities to its shareholders, customers, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders and is committed to conducting business in a manner which achieves sustainable growth whilst fulfilling legal and moral obligations. We aim to achieve our business objectives in a caring and responsible manner recognising the economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities.

Pirtek has long been committed to the highest standards of health & safety and quality in the products and services that we provide and this is reflected in our BS EN ISO 9001, 2015 and BS EN ISO 45001, 2018 accreditations. Our commitment to the environment and other areas of corporate social responsibility is evolving and it is recognised that we need to introduce more measures and targets.

Business principles and code of ethics

We are committed to ensuring that our business is conducted in all respects according to the highest ethical and professional standards, taking into account legislation and customs in the countries and regions in which we operate. In terms of franchising Pirtek is a full member of the British Franchise Association and as such fully abides by their code of ethics.

Environment

We seek to minimise the environmental impact of our activities through the prevention of pollution, minimizing waste, and good environmental management practices, using environmental management systems, which are where applicable externally audited. We are committed to conducting our activities and operations in line with current legislation and best environmental practice seeking continual improvement and innovation within all Group businesses and activities.

In terms of specifics Pirtek UK is actively ensuring all Pirtek franchise operations dispose of used hydraulic hose assemblies and waste oil as contaminated waste and the necessary traceability is recorded.

Pirtek has a BS EN ISO 14001, 2015 approved Environmental Management System in place.

Health and safety

Pirtek prides itself on a strong health and safety culture. We are committed to high standards of health and safety, recognising our duty and the benefits of providing safe working conditions. All Pirtek employees attend our Induction Training Programme where great emphasis is placed on working in a safe manner. Our franchise network need to advise Pirtek UK Health and Safety Manager of any lost time accidents that meet RIDDOR requirements. We are striving to raise the awareness of near miss accident reporting within the network. We aim to achieve continuous improvement in health & safety performance through the use of robust, and, where applicable, externally audited health and safety management systems. Pirtek has a BS EN ISO 45001, 2018 approved Health and Safety Management System in place.

Transport

Pirtek accepts that motor vehicles are responsible for significant emissions to the atmosphere and, by reducing distances travelled and/or driving in a fuel efficient manner, we can benefit the environment and the health of our staff and the general public. Pirtek is committed to working with the franchise network to encourage the effective measuring of fuel usage and the efficiency of their mobile engineers. Our aim is to encourage our network to operate the most energy efficient vehicles commercially available at the time of renewal to achieve a greener fleet operation.

Suppliers

We regard suppliers as our partners and work with them to achieve our aspirations in the delivery of products and services. Pirtek recognises the need to highlight to our suppliers our expectation that they will work in a socially responsible manner and we will be asking our suppliers if they are accredited to the BS EN ISO 9001, 2015; BS EN ISO 14001, 2015 and BS EN ISO 45001, 2018 standards or to present/adopt policies that will comply with the requirements of the above management systems.

Customers

We recognise that our business and livelihood depends upon our customers. Every employee is responsible for ensuring that customer contact is professional and appropriate. We aim to ensure that our customers receive the level of service and quality of product they have come to expect from Pirtek. Customer service training is part of our Induction Training programme and we also run specific Customer Service Training courses for our mobile engineers. Pirtek is committed to more effectively measuring customer satisfaction and the introduction of a centralized web based customer feedback form is under development.

Pirtek has a BS EN ISO 9001 : 2015 approved Quality Management System in place.

Community

Pirtek are extremely proud to promote awareness and raise money for our chosen charity; Prostate Cancer UK, and have been involved in a number of money raising events including “Movember”, “Easy Rider” and the London Marathon.

It is recognised that the Pirtek Corporate Social Responsibility is an evolving commitment and more needs to be done in terms of minimizing our impact on the environment and making Pirtek a better place to work for all its employees. The Director takes responsibility for policy implementation and this policy is signed to demonstrate commitment.
